The coastal landscape has been the inspiration for many artists and this is an opportunity to both explore the magic of colour and create a painting about your own special place by the sea with artist Ashley Hanson.
Using the ‘Coast’ as our theme, students will learn the principles of colour- mixing and how to use colour creatively and imaginatively. The tutor will be hands on demonstrating and sharing many of their tips and techniques about colour, mark-making and composition and the day will end with an informal discussion about the work made.
This workshop is suitable for all abilities and participants are welcome to use either oil or acrylic paints .
The tutor has been a Visiting Lecturer at Canterbury Christchurch University for 5 years and has taught at the National Academy of Art, Bergen, Norway, in addition to running their own popular workshops and painting holidays.
Their work has been shown extensively throughout the UK and beyond including selection for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Discerning Eye, the National Open Art Competition and the Ludlow Open. The tutor was also voted joint prizewinner of the ‘Canvas & Cream Art Prize’ in London in 2012. Their work can currently be seen at Modern Artists Gallery, Reading, The Riverside Gallery , Barnes and The Gloss Gallery, Exeter.
